Unseasonably stormy climate moved eastwards throughout northern Italy as intense rain and 100km/h (62mph) winds battered the area.
In some locations, tennis ball-sized hailstones injured folks, broken vehicles and uprooted bushes.
A 16-year-old lady was killed when a tree fell on the tent she was sleeping in at a summer season camp close to the town of Brescia, whereas a middle-aged girl died after additionally being hit by a falling tree in Lissone, north of Milan.
The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, stated: “I’ve by no means seen something like this… We will not deny it any longer – local weather change is altering our lives.”
